Dedication must for artists
to achieve expertise in music: expert
Pt Sardar said that the music,
like other entities, is subjected to change. Today,
the singing pattern in Indian classical music
is restricted to Khyaal style, however one cannot
provide a guarantee that it would continue eternally,
he noted.
“A vocalist can mesmerise the audience,
if he has an impressive voice supported by an
attractive style, but these aspects are not at
all important in classical music,” he mentioned,
adding that dedication is the only way to master
the music.
Ms Marulkar said that classical music cannot be
a hobby, but needs a dedicated effort on the part
of a student. The modern day singers are after
cultivating their own images, but the future singers
should stress upon cultivating their inherent
talents, and only then the classical music of
the country would be safe in the hands of the
future generations, she pointed out.
The session was presided over by noted musicologist,
Dr Ashok Ranade, who said that the days of wearing
a pride about the traditions of music are long
over. “There is nothing called correct or
erroneous in music, or else, there would be no
difference between music and mathematics,”
he maintained.
The executive trustee of the Samraat Sangeet Academy,
Mr Guruprasad Shinkre welcomed, while Dr Ajay
Vaidya compered. The president of Ramnath temple
committee, Dr Rajan Kuncolienkar was also present
on the occasion.
