Jose Carreras, b. 1948, is a popular Spanish operatic tenor.
He made his debut (1970) in Barcelona in Donizetti's Lucrezia
Borgia and was introduced (1972) to U.S. audiences as Pinkerton
in Puccini's Madama Butterfly at the New York City Opera.
Since then, he has sung at most of the world's major opera
houses.
