Prerana, a City-based youth organisation is holding ‘Hridayaraga Ribabari’, a State-level music competition for young artists on October 24.
The organisation is organising the musical event for the fourth successive year this time.
The organisation Secretary K Sridhar said, the objective of the competition was to identify and encourage the young and talented artists across the State. The competition in Kannada film songs, devotional songs and folk songs will be held in two separate categories. Child artists aged between 5 and 12 years can participate in the junior category while those aged between 12 and 20 years can take part in the senior category, he explained.
Top three winners in each category will be awarded with cash prizes of Rs 3,000, Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,000, respectively.
Interested artists may register their names at Prerana, C/O Veerabhadreshwara Decorations, No 164 / 2A, PJ Extension, Third Main, Davangere (Mob: 98441-46890, 98444-22677, 98440-77433, 98444-98159), before October 16.
The origin and the growth of Prerana makes for an interesting reading. It was primarily started by a few friends who were studying diploma in the City. These friends who had a great inclination for music and culture have been organising the musical event every year on a grand scale for the benefit of young talents.
Another objective of the programme is to renew and celebrate their long-cherished friendship. The members of the Prerana who are now working in different parts of the State come together in the name of the musical event for which some big names in the musical world are invited as judges.
