Renowned Santoor maestro Pandit Shiv Kumar
Sharma, would be honoured with the prestigious Tansen Award
for this year in recognition of his outstanding contribution
in the field of Hindustani classical music.
The award, comprising Rs. 1 lakh in cash and a citation, would
be presented to him by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Babulal
Gaur, on December 3 during the Tansen Festival at Gwalior,
Minister of State for Culture, Lakshmikant Sharma, told reporters
in Bhopal.
The award has been instituted by the Cultural Department of
the Madhya Pradesh Government, he said.
Pandit Sharma would also present a santoor recital at the
four-day festival.
