Noted classical singer and fourth generation
representative of Mewati gharana, Pt Jasraj will pay homage
to Sangeet Samrat, Tansen in 80th Tansen Samorah, which will
be held in Gwalior from 3-6 of December.
This cermony will be organised in Ustad Allauddin Khan Kala
Akademy for Madhya cultural department.
Pt Jasraj will present his programme on December 5. He is
known among the contemporary renowned singer. His first stage
show was held in 1952 and since then, he has spell bounded
the whole country with his melancoly song. He has taken the
primary education of music from his father Motiram. His real
music teacher was his elder brother, Maniram under whose watchful
eyes got the in-depth knowledge of music and taken the valuable
lesson of the musical heritage of mewati gharana. Pt Jasraj
is deeply attached with haveli sangeet. He has not only displayed
his performance in India, but also abroad.
He has got a lot of awards. MP Cultural department has felicitated
him from kalidas samman in the year 1997-98.
Emiment santoor player, Pt Shiv Kumar Sharma will also be
felicitated with National Tansen Samman on 3rd December. The
other dignitaries to be present on the occasion are eminent
flute player, Hariprasad Chaourasia, Sarod player, Ustad Amjad
Ali Khan and his sons Amman and Ayan, Sitar Player, Pt Buddhaditya
Mukkerji, noted Dhrupad Singer, Ustad Syeduddin Dagar and
many other renowned artists will also give their presentations
on the occasion.
