Shrinivas made his first public Carnatic concert performance in 1978, at the age of 9. Since then, he has given recitals all over the world performing with western artists such as John McLaughlin, Michael Brook, Nana Vasconcelos and Michael Nyman.

He has also performed with Hindustani music artistes such as Hariprasad Chaurasia and Zakir Hussain. He has also played for Ilayaraaja’s Classics in Mandolin, which was released as a CD.

He has received a number of awards and laurels including Padma Shree, Sangeeta Ratna, Sanatan Sangeet Puraskar from Sangeet Sanskriti and National Citizen’s Award in 1991 by the President of India.
