Grammy nominee Lama Tashi, a Buddhist monk and Tibetan scholar, is getting ready to leave for Los Angles carrying the hope and aspiration of the entire Tibetan community from Bomdila to Dharamsala.

The little town, has suddenly waken up to the fact that their teacher will soon be rubbing shoulders with Britney Spears and Michael Jackson in Los Angeles.

''I am leaving on February 1 for New Delhi and from there I shall leave for the United States,'' said the Lama, a Tibetan Scholar.

Lama Tashi's album 'Tibetan Musical Chants' has been selected by the Grammy as one of the top five in the Traditional World Music Category. His album consists of sacred Buddhists chants and carried the message of love and peace. The Lama is flying next week to Los Angles where Grammy awards will be announced on February 8.

The Buddhist community in the Tawang region, near Chinese border is elated over the achievement of Lama Tashi, who is based at picturesque Bomdila in Arunachal Pradesh about 275 km from Guwahati.

Lama Tashi is the Principal of Institute of Himalayan Studies at Dahong, Bomdila.
