The All India Radio is organising a live concert to promote folk and classical music. Titled the ’Akashwani Lok Evam Shetriya Sugam Sangeet Mahotsav’, the concert would be organised at the Ganna Kisan Sansthan auditorium in Lucknow on February 2.

According to station director of AIR Lucknow Gulab Chand, the concert is being organised not only to promote the folk music legacy of the country, but also to present a view of the quality of music delivered by All India Radio.

“AIR is known all over for quality music and also, giving a platform to the best folk and light music artists of the country. This concert is another way of doing it,” he informed.

The performers of the concert would be from different parts of the country. There would be a solo act by Sangeeta Rai from Allahabad, who would present Awadhi folk songs.

The other performers are Heeralal Yadav and party from Varanasi, who will render Bhojpuri folk songs and Iqbal Hussain Khan and party from Hyderabad, who will render some famous qawaalis.

The entry to the concert is through invitations and also, open for music lovers in Lucknow.
