Smt. M.Narmada, daughter and disciple
of Violin Maestro Padmashri M.S. Gopalakrishnan, has her initial
training in violin at the age of 5 from her revered grandfather,
the violin-wizard Parur A. Sundaram Iyer. Continuing her training
under her father, learning both Hindustani and Carnatic Music,
she is one of the leading accompanists cum soloists of the
country.
Having toured all over the world which include countries like
USA, UK, Holland, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore,
Malaysia and Hong Kong, in violin solo concerts, she has produced
a number of L.P. records and CD's to her credit, both in combination
with her father and also as an accompanist.
She has been awarded consecutively 8 times 'Best-Violinist'
Award from 'The Music Academy', Madras. Having accompanied
all top-artists of the country, she has also won gold medals
throughout her career.
She has been awarded 'Doctoral Degree' from Delhi-University
for her thesis 'Raagas of Indian Music' which she completed
as a senior U.G.C fellow under the remarkable guidance of
Sitar-Virtuoso Prof. Debu Chaudhuri.
She commands a good flair in a number of languages like English,
Sanskrit and French and has authored many articles on music,
which have appeared in journals in India and abroad.
Smt. M. Narmada is an 'A' grade artist and employed as a Staff-Artist
in All India Radio.
She is also a good vocalist with tutelage initially from her
mother and later under the revered Shri T.M.Thyagarajan.
Her aim is to propagate the 'Parur MSG Style' of violin playing
and to train a number of students all over the world. Won
