Born in 1976, Hailing from a family of
musicians, Siva Rama Krishna was initiated to music at a very
tender age by his father Shri.B.Sudarsana Rao. He took up
the sitar as a child of 6 under the guidance of late Pandit
Shri. Subba Rao a reputed sitar and Rudra Veena Vidwan, and
later on, became the disciple of the illustrious and veteran
sitarist, Late Ustad Ahmed Hussian Khan, who was a Flag Bearer
of the famous Mian Achpal Gharana which has produced some
of the most eminent and rare gems, who has set high standards
in traditional Hindustani music. This particular ancient Gharana
to which Siva Ramakrishna belongs, has a great lineage of
masters like Ustad Bande Ali Khan [Beenkar of Indore], Ustad
Rahmath Khan Sahib of Dharwar, Ustad Habib Khan Sahib of Gudyani,
Ustad Bundhu Khan Sahib who are exponents of the special techniques
of Razakhani, maseetkhani and senibaj.
As a performer Siva Ramakrishna possess an uncanny sense
of realisation of space and time in the construction and knowledge
of rhythm. At a very young age he performed with his brothers
and was conferred the title "Laya Brahma" awarded
by the Music college of Tirupathi for his rhythmic excellence.
He has accompanied Dr.M.Balamurali Krishna in the spirit of
Freedom Concerts for National Integration conducted by the
BCIC. His hardwork, determination and dedication has won him
many Accolades, and he was awarded "Child Prodigy"
of the Year 1990 by the Governor of TamilNadu instituted by
the Madras Telugu Academy as a "Ugadi Puraskar"
for excellence.
Siva has made TV appearances at National level and has toured
Kuwait for ICCR programmes. His improvisation in playing also
brings out a perfect combination of "Gayaki" and
"Tantrakari Angs", perhaps he is the only Sitarist
who can play carnatic style in Sitar. He has given solo performances
and jugalbandhi's with various artists and has also played
recordings in the film and cassettes field to his credit.
Siva stunned the audience everywhere with his skill in handling
the instrument and won the admiration of the former Prime
Minister of India Sri.P.V.Narasimha Rao. His approach to his
music is at once intellectual sensitive and artistic.
