Adnan Sami

Adnan first shone on the music scene when, at the age of 9, he was introduced on BBC as a Child Prodigy. It is he who has single-handedly taken up the task of playing Indian Classical Music on the electronic piano, which is generally used to play Western Music. It is totally due to his saga of service that the maestros and the critics agree that such a fusion is possible and that the electric piano can be considered a tool to play the traditional Indian classical music. Today, Adnan Sami and his Indian Classical renditions on the electric piano receive accolades in concert halls around the world. Indeed Adnan Sami has done for the electric piano what Ustad Bismillah Khan has achieved for the shehnai and Pandit Shivkumar Sharma for the santoor.

Adnan Sami is an accomplished Concert Pianist and Composer with a special command on all Western and Indian classical and semi-classical notes. His career has ranged from the classical to Jazz to modern Pop-Rock (Western and Indian). Based in Toronto, Canada, Adnan, apart from being a Concert Pianist and a Singer, is also a Songwriter, Composer and Music Producer. In short, Adnan is a complete musician.

Adnan Sami has won many International Awards including the "Nigar Award", "Bolan Academy Award", "Graduate Award", etc. He was given a "Special Award of U.N.I.C.E.F." and a United Nations Peace Medal for a song he wrote and performed for Africa. He was invited as a member of the jury of the prestigious international music festival "Voice Of Asia" competition held annually at Almaty, Kazakastan. This jury comprises of top music composers of the world.

Adnan has been educated in Britain where he first studied at the prestigious Public School called "Rugby School". He went onto graduate from the University of London, throughout developing his musical style and technique on the Piano and thus evolving a new sound that he pioneered and ultimately introduced to the world thus becoming the first person to play Indian Classical Music on the electric Piano.

Reviewing a Piano solo performance Adnan had given on the Channel 4 in the U.K., the famous American magazine called "KEYBOARD" declared him the "KEYBOARD DISCOVERY OF THE 90s". Popularly referred to as the fastest Keyboard player in the world, this observation was first made by the Swedish Radio and Television Broadcasting. Adnan Sami has been featured in a documentary recently commissioned by the Foreign and Common Wealth Office of Great Britain amongst exclusive ten famous names from the Sub-Continent of India and Pakistan, who have influenced the Asian culture in the U.K. over the last fifty years.

As a classical concert pianist, Adnan Sami has had the honor of giving "solo" Royal Command performances before such Royalty as the King of Sweden and King Hussein of Jordan. He has also performed before Heads of State and Government such as President Mitterand of France, President of United Arab Emirates, President and Prime Minister of India, President and Prime Minister of Pakistan, President and Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Prime Minister of Kyrgistan, Prime Minister of Sweden and Princess Christina of Sweden. Apart from this, Adnan has performed from prestigious Music festivals to sold-out Stadiums of his solo concert tours all over the world in over forty countries.

Adnan is committed to experimenting with new styles and forms rather than be taken hostage by success as a commercial Artist and thus creating formula music.

As a recording artist, stage and Television performer, Adnan Sami Khan, at the age of 28 has worked in various parts of the world including U.S.A., London, Sweden, Spain, Pakistan and India. His vocal albums have consistently been big sellers, each album crossing the million mark sales. His energy on stage as well as his music videos is a delight for the audiences and viewers of all ages.
