Mahmood Khan

Mahmood Khan has spent 15 long years working in the music-studios of Los Angeles. Mahmbod had gone there to study Sound Engineering. While studying he approached a number of studios to let him work there or just become an assistant to be able to watch the Pros at work. However when his requests were denied he took up work at the studios, staying back till early morning to do the cleaning up. His perseverance paid off when he rose so rapidly that a couple of years later he was offered a partnership in the same studio. In 1999 Mahmood's first solo album `Fairy Tale' was released by an independent record company in California. At the time he was residing and working in Hollywood as a sound engineer and was gaining vital experience by working with artists like Vanessa Williams, Richard Mars, Dr.Dre, Coolio and Stevie Wonder to name a few. Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan noticed his sound and in '97 Nusrat and Mahmood were working together on a new album. Six months later the album `Only One' by Mahmood Khan featuring Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan was finished. As is usually the case, Mahmood was the sole writer, sound engineer and producer of the album. Late '97 saw the release of `Only one' and American radio stations were quick to add the first single `Another Lover/ Teri Yaad' to their playlist. Mahmood became the first Asian artist to be played by over 250 radio stations across the USA. Magnasound released the album in India.
