Saapna

Saapna started her musical career in the year 1986 when Feroz Khan introduced her as a playback singer through his film “Jaanbaaz”. In an environment when a reputed filmmaker such as Feroz Khan could have chosen any other top singer to sing these songs he chose Saapna simply because he believed in her talent. His faith in her was justified when her three songs in “Jaazbaaz”, Jaane Jaana, Tera Saath hai kitna pyaara and Pyaar lo pyaar do, all became super duper hits. This began Saapna’s journey into the world of enchanting melody…

Since “Jaanbaaz”, Saapna’s songs have not only topped the popularity charts but also have captivated the hearts of millions of music fans in India and Abroad. She is best known from her songs Pyar pyar kartey kartey from “Judaai”, Dil le gayi teri bindaya from “Vishwatma”, Ho jata hai kaisey pyaar from “Yalgar”, Sundara Sundara from “Rakshak”, Tere ishq mein naachengey from “Raja Hindustani” and Sun baba sun baba from “Kroadh”. Saapna has won the Filmfare Award for the popular song Oye Oye from the film “Tridev”. She has also performed in shows all over the world with Amitabh Bachaan and Shah Rukh Khan. Saapna has three non-film music albums to her credit. “Dil Tera Hua” (music by Late Shri R.D.Burman), “Jaanam” (music by Shri Viju Shah) and “A Tribute to Geeta Dutt”.

Presently, Saapna is associated with the Sahara India Pariwar.

Saapna never wanted to be a mere playback singer – she always wanted to produce music close to her heart. But Saapna, a usually shy person, found it difficult to enter the competitive world of pop music. And it was not until a chance meeting between her and Mr. Shashi Gopal, the Chairman and Managing Director of Magnasound (India) Ltd. – which was arranged by Daler Mehendi – that helped realize Saapna’s long cherished dream. The result – “Hai Mera Dil”. Saapna has since transformed into an extremely capable artiste, and as for her shyness, people at Magnasound are pleasantly surprised to see a demure Saapna change to an extremely vivacious performer!
