Raga Today - TILANG

An audava desya raga derived from the 28th mela Harikambhoji. This raga originated from Hindusthani Music and came to carnatic music. It is a bhashanga raga that takes Kakali Ni. ‘gmgmG’ is a visesha prayoga. Ga and Ni comes as vadi samvadi svaras. In carnatic music there is a raga by the name tilagaprakshini derived from the 6th mela which is entirely different from Hindusthani Tilang. A pleasing minor raga.
